THIS COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT IS AWARDED TO IIINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IS A MULTI-INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (IIT), GTI ENERGY, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-CORPUS CHRISTI, PROPANE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH COUNCIL (PERC), AND INDUSTRIAL PARTNER SHV ENERGY. THE GOAL IS TO DEMONSTRATE A 5KW PROTOTYPE (4 KG/D EQUIVALENT TO 180 MJ(LHV)/DAY OF PROPANE) USING A SYSTEM OF MULTIPLE CO2 ELECTROLYZER STACKS OPERATING AT UP TO 10-BAR WITH COMPLIMENTARY PROCESS UNITS INCLUDING SEPARATION AND RECYCLE UNITS TO ACHIEVE 97% PROPANE SELECTIVITY, ENERGY TO LIQUID EFFICIENCY OF >50% AND MULTI-PASS CARBON YIELD OF > 85%, PROJECT ENTITLED, “RENEWABLE PROPANE PRODUCTION USING DYNAMIC CO2 ELECTROLYSIS (E-PROPANE)”
