UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN CONTROL NUMBER 3387-1570 VISION OPEN 2024 PROJECT TITLE: LATERAL-SCALING ORTHOGONAL-COOLING PACKAGES FOR NEXT-GENERATION MVAC-LVDC DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE (LINCOLNPAK) THIS PROJECT ADDRESSES THE RISING DEMAND ON ELECTRICAL GRIDS FROM THE RAPID GROWTH OF AI DATA CENTERS AND EV FAST CHARGERS, WHICH REQUIRE EFFICIENT, HIGH-POWER AC-DC CONVERSION AT A LARGE SCALE. THIS PROJECT PROPOSES LINCOLNPAK, A FIRST-OF-ITS KIND SCALABLE PACKAGE FOR QUASI-TWO-LEVEL SUPER SWITCHES, DESIGNED FOR EFFICIENT HIGH-VOLTAGE, HIGH-FREQUENCY AC-DC CONVERSION. LINCOLNPAK FEATURES FAST SWITCHING (UP TO 200 KHZ), DUAL-SIDED COOLING, LOW INDUCTANCE, AND EMI MITIGATION, PROMISING 60% LOWER POWER LOSS, TWICE THE POWER DENSITY, AND 50% COST SAVINGS.
