UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER CONTROL NO. 3387-2044 VISION OPEN 2024 PROJECT TITLE: UNIVERSAL ULTRA-HIGH DENSITY AC-DC ELECTRICAL POWER MOVER FOR THE FUTURE INTERMODAL ENERGY SUPERHIGHWAY (POWERMOVE) THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER WILL DEVELOP AN ULTRA-HIGH DENSITY AC-DC UNIVERSAL POWER MOVER AS A UBIQUITOUS, ELECTRICALLY AND MECHANICALLY STACKABLE, LOW-TO-MEDIUM VOLTAGE COMPATIBLE, RECONFIGURABLE BUILDING BLOCK TO ENABLE BI-DIRECTIONAL ENERGY FLOW TO AND FROM THE POINT OF USE IN THE ENVISIONED FUTURE INTERMODAL ENERGY SUPERHIGHWAY. THE PROPOSED AC-DC BUILDING BLOCK WILL ENABLE A) SEAMLESS INTERCONNECTION OF SOLAR/WIND RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES, BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS, AND HYDROGEN PRODUCTION FACILITIES TO AND FROM THE END USER THROUGH BOTH THE LOW-VOLTAGE (LV) AS WELL AS MEDIUM-VOLTAGE (MV) SINGLE/THREE PHASE POWER GRID INFRASTRUCTURE, B) REACTIVE/HARMONIC GRID SUPPORT FUNCTIONALITY, AND C) RELIABLE MODULARITY, POWER SCALABILITY, TRANSFORMERLESS MV-COMPATIBILITY AND STANDARDIZATION TO THE EV FAST CHARGING MARKET, LEVELING CRUCIAL MANUFACTURERS' DESIGN, LABOR, DEPLOYMENT, AND MAINTENANCE COSTS TO FACILITATE THE ELECTRIFICATION NEEDS OF THE COUNTRY VIA A MASSIVE DISSEMINATION OF DC FAST CHARGING POINTS.
