OPTIMIZE THE DESIGN OF THE DUO-DS WAVE-POWERED DESALINATION SYSTEM, BUILDING ON THE DEVICE DESIGNED FOR THE WAVES-TO-WATER PRIZE. THIS PROJECT UPDATES THE SPECIFICATION OF THE DUO-DS FOR MARKETS ASSOCIATED WITH REMOTE COASTAL COMMUNITIES AND SALMON FARMING. THE PROJECT WILL DESIGN, BUILD, TEST, AND QUALIFY A FULL-SCALE DEVICE FOR THESE TARGET MARKETS, INCLUDING IN AN OPEN WATER TEST SITE TO ADVANCE THE TECHNOLOGY READINESS FROM TRL6 TO TRL8 AND DEMONSTRATE READINESS FOR COMMERCIAL DEPLOYMENT IN A DEMONSTRATION PROJECT BEFORE 2025. THE PROJECT INCLUDES COLLABORATION WITH THE MARINE RENEWABLE ENERGY COLLABORATIVE OF NEW ENGLAND FOR PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS, PURE MARINE GEN FOR MODELLING EXPERTISE AND DESIGN INPUTS TO THE WAVE POWER SYSTEM, AND COLLOIDE ENGINEERING FOR WATER TREATMENT EXPERTISE AND DESIGN INPUTS INTO THE WATER TREATMENT PORTION OF THE SYSTEM. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO COMPLETE A PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT IN LINE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION STANDARDS THAT WILL INFORM PREPARATION ON NEW IEC TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR WAVE POWERED DESALINATION SYSTEMS. THE PROJECT WILL ACCELERATE THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF THE DUO-DS WAVE POWERED DESALINATION SYSTEM TO BENEFIT BLUE ECONOMY MARKETS.
