THE TEAM WILL DESIGN AND FABRICATE CATALYST PARTICLES FOR STREAM AND DRY REFORMING PROCESSES SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SOLAR FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR. WE WILL DESIGN AND FABRICATE A LAB-SCALE SOLAR FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR, WHICH WILL BE USED TO VALIDATE THE REACTOR/CATALYST PERFORMANCE WITH LIMITED SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION AND ENGINEERING EFFORTS. BASED ON THE LESSONS LEARNED, THE TEAM WILL PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CATALYST DESIGN, OPERATING CONDITIONS, AND SOLAR REACTOR DESIGN FOR A PILOT SCALE REACTOR BEFORE REACHING A FULL-SCALE REACTOR. THE PROJECT ALSO INCLUDES OUTREACH ACTIVITIES TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS IN CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWER SYSTEMS AND PROMOTE THE INVOLVEMENT OF STUDENTS FROM THE HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS IN STEM.
