THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A DUAL-RECYCLE CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) CONVERSION PLATFORM TAILORED FOR THE EXCLUSIVE CONVERSION OF CO2 INTO ETHYLENE (C2H4). THIS PROJECT IS FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING HIGH CARBON EFFICIENCY, ENERGY EFFICIENCY, C2H4 SELECTIVITY AND PRODUCTIVITY, AND LONG-TERM STABILITY. THE CO2 ELECTROLYZER WILL INTEGRATE CO2-TO-C2H4 CONVERSION AND THE DOWNSTREAM GAS SEPARATION UNIT WILL EFFECTIVELY SEPARATE THE REGENERATED AND UNREACTED CO2, ENABLING CO2 RECYCLING AND ENSURING A THEORETICAL CARBON EFFICIENCY OF 100%. DEVELOPMENT OF A DUAL-RECYCLE CO2 CONVERSION SYSTEM, ANION EXCHANGE MEMBRANE, C2H4-SELECTIVE CU CATALYST AND CATHODE, AND EXTENDED SURFACE ANODE WILL BE IMPLEMENTED TO ACHIEVE CO2 ELECTROLYSIS WITH INDUSTRIALLY RELEVANT PERFORMANCE METRICS. THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT WILL MARK THE FIRST-EVER DEMONSTRATION OF A CO2-TO-C2H4 CONVERSION PLATFORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING C2H4 AS THE SOLE PRODUCT WITH A PURITY LEVEL OF 99.9%. THIS ACHIEVEMENT WOULD BE A SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE IN THE FIELD OF SUSTAINABLE CO2 UTILIZATION.
