THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DESIGN, DEVELOP, AND PILOT-DEMONSTRATE A SUPERIOR ELECTROSPUN NANOFIBER-BASED SEPARATOR FOR LIQUID ALKALINE ELECTROLYZER (LAE) SYSTEM. THIS DURABLE SEPARATOR WILL HAVE LOW THICKNESS, LOW RESISTANCE, HIGH ION TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY, LOW GAS CROSSOVER, AND HIGH MECHANICAL STRENGTH. IT WILL BE COMPETITIVELY PRICED AND WILL BE A DIRECT DROP-IN REPLACEMENT FOR ZIRFON®. THE PROJECT TEAM WILL PERFORM FIELD DEMONSTRATIONS AT A LARGE SITE WITH A UNIQUE DESIGN APPROACH. THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT WILL BRING TO MARKET, NEW PRODUCT, LOCALLY MANUFACTURED IN CHATTANOOGA, TN, FOR EXPANDING HYDROGEN ECONOMY AND DECARBONIZATION OF INDUSTRIES, WHILE CREATING ROBUST MANUFACTURING BASE IN US AND PROMOTING LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
