THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO ADDRESS THE GOAL TO INVEST IN AMERICA’S WORKFORCE. GUIDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR’S GOOD JOBS PRINCIPLES, THE TEAM PLANS TO INVEST IN THE CLEAN ENERGY WORKFORCE, EXPAND WORKER PARTICIPATION IN THE HYDROGEN INDUSTRY, AND CREATE ACCESS TO HIGH-ROAD JOBS IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES IN CHAMBERS, GALVESTON, HARRIS, AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES. EQUITABLE WORKFORCE OPPORTUNITIES (EWO) SPECIFICALLY WILL ACCOMPLISH THE FOLLOWING GOALS: • MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT WITH INDUSTRY AND IMPACTED COMMUNITIES, PARTICULARLY THOSE THAT ARE DISADVANTAGED OR UNDERSERVED, TO IDENTIFY BARRIERS TO ACCESS AND TRAINING NEEDS. • INVENTORY COMMUNITY & WORKFORCE RESOURCES ALREADY EXISTING AND AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT. • IDENTIFY SPECIFIC STRATEGIES, TACTICS, PROGRAMS, AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN THE JOB BEING GENERATED BY INDUSTRY AND THE SKILLS & NEEDS OF RESIDENTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE TRADITIONALLY BEEN LEFT OUT OF THE BENEFITS FLOWING FROM INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT. • DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND CURRICULUM TO EFFECTIVELY RESOURCE THE NEEDED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INTERESTS OF BOTH INDUSTRY AND THE COMMUNITY. • DEVELOP A TOOL KIT OF ALL THE MATERIALS, STRATEGIES, AND TACTICS USED AND IMPLEMENTED AND SHARE THEM WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES AND INDUSTRY (ESPECIALLY HYDROGEN DEVELOPERS AND HYDROGEN HUB TEAMS) VIA WIDELY AVAILABLE ONLINE OUTLETS.
