THIS PROJECT WILL DEVELOP A FULLY-AUTOMATED REMOTELY-CONTROLLABLE WATER AND WIND ENERGY TEST LABORATORY FOR ADVANCEMENT OF MARINE HYDROKINETIC AND OFFSHORE WIND (OSW) ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES. LEVERAGE OUR EXISTING MARINE AND WIND ENERGY TEST PLATFORM TO CREATE A FULLY DIGITIZED FACILITY THAT WILL SUPPORT A MUCH BROADER SCOPE OF MARINE AND OSW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES, SUPPORT THE US MARINE ENERGY INDUSTRY, AND GENERATE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE DATA. TO REDUCE COST OF MARINE ENERGY, WE MUST CONDUCT MULTI-DISCIPLINARY DESIGN OPTIMIZATION USING EXPERIMENTALLY VALIDATED MODELS. THIS PROJECT AIMS TO PRODUCE AND PUBLICLY DISSEMINATE AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA FOR MODEL-SCALE MARINE HYDROKINETIC (AND FLOATING OSW) TURBINE PROTOTYPES.
