THIS PROJECT PROPOSES TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND END-TO-END LABORATORY TESTING AND INTEGRATION OF OPEN-SOURCE WECS WITH A NOVEL AUV DOCKING AND RECHARGING SYSTEM. THE KEY TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT WILL INCLUDE: (1) FULL END-TO-END SYSTEM PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF WEC AND AUV SYSTEMS; (2) ADVANCED WIRELESS RECHARGING INTERFACES BETWEEN LAB-SCALE WECS (BASED ON OSU’S CURRENT DESIGNS) AND AUVS (BUILT ON THE BLUEROV2 CHASSIS); (3) REAL-TIME COMMUNICATION OF SENSING DATA BETWEEN DOCKING SYSTEMS AND AUVS THROUGH OPTICAL COMMUNICATION; AND (4) ADVANCED AUTONOMY AND CONTROL CAPABILITIES FOR THE WEC AND AUV FOR OPERATING IN ENERGETIC, IRREGULAR WAVES SUCH AS THOSE AT PACWAVE, THE WAVE ENERGY TEST SITE (WETS), AND KILO NALU IN OREGON AND HAWAII.
