OPTIMIZING THE INTEGRATION OF AQUACULTURE AND OCEAN ALKALINITY ENHANCEMENT FOR LOW-COST CARBON REMOVAL AND MAXIMUM ECOSYSTEM BENEFIT THIS PROJECT WILL DESIGN AN OPTIMIZED ELECTROCHEMICAL SYSTEM IN ANTICIPATION OF FIELD TRIALS IN WHICH SODIUM HYDROXIDE WILL BE ELECTROCHEMICALLY PRODUCED FROM SEAWATER TO PERFORM OCEAN ALKALINITY ENHANCEMENT ON A SHELLFISH FARM. THE ECOLOGICAL IMPACT AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF OCEAN ALKALINITY ENHANCEMENT WILL BE ESTABLISHED PRIOR TO THE FIELD STUDY THROUGH PRELIMINARY EXPERIMENTAL WORK, DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS, AND A SURVEY OF EXISTING LITERATURE.
