THIS PROJECT WILL INVESTIGATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FARMERS, MID-MARKET SOLAR PV DEVELOPERS (1 TO 30 GW), AND RURAL COMMUNITIES TO SHARE ECONOMIC BENEFITS AND EFFICIENT USE OF LAND FOR SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCTION AND SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRODUCTION IN NORTHERN LATITUDES. THE PROJECT WILL CO-LOCATE THREE DIFFERENT HIGH-VALUE AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD-BEARING CROPS WITH A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED SOLAR PV ARRAY IN HOUSTON, ALASKA. BY GATHERING DATA ON YIELD AND COSTS FOR BOTH ENERGY AND FOOD PRODUCTION, THE PROJECT WILL ADD TO THE BODY OF KNOWLEDGE AND SERVE AS A DEMONSTRATION TO ADDRESS STAKEHOLDER CONCERNS AND GENERATE ECONOMIC MODELS THAT CAN BE USED TO GUIDE FUTURE AGRIVOLTAIC PROJECTS AT MID-MARKET SOLAR PV FACILITIES AT HIGH LATITUDES.
