THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE A THOROUGH RESOURCE ASSESSMENT OF NATURAL MATERIALS, AS WELL AS INDUSTRIAL AND MINE WASTES TO BE USED IN BOTH IN-SITU AND EX-SITU CO2 MINERALIZATION PROCESSES IN THE US MID-ATLANTIC REGION. THE FOCUS HERE IS TO ASSESS THE REACTIVITY OF MAFIC AND ULTRAMAFIC FORMATIONS AND CRUSHED MINE AND INDUSTRIAL WASTES WITH CO2, AND THEIR SUITABILITY AS A HOST FOR CO2 MINERALIZATION IN TERMS OF THEIR POST-MINERALIZATION PHYSICAL PROPERTIES SUCH AS POROSITY, PERMEABILITY, AND MECHANICAL ROCK PROPERTIES.
