THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DESIGN AN INTEGRATED METHANE MONITORING PLATFORM COMPRISING SATELLITES, AIRCRAFT, NEAR-SURFACE DRONES, GROUND-LEVEL MOBILE PLATFORMS, AND FENCELINE STATIONARY NETWORKS FOR REGIONAL AND FACILITY-LEVEL EMISSIONS MONITORING. PLANNED ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE EVALUATING PREVIOUSLY DEPLOYED PLATFORMS; SUMMARIZING OPERATOR KNOWLEDGE AND BEST PRACTICES; UTILIZING BOTTOM-UP, TOP-DOWN, AND BRIDGE TECHNOLOGIES IN A REAL-WORLD APPLICATION; AND SUMMARIZING DATA MANAGEMENT AND ASSESSMENT PRACTICES. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES AND OUTCOMES WILL ENCOMPASS LITERATURE AND MONITORING NETWORKS, FIELD CAMPAIGNS, DATA ASSESSMENT, AND A METHANE MONITORING PLATFORM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN. THE PLATFORM DESIGN PLAN WILL BE INTENDED FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DOE) AND OTHER AGENCY STAKEHOLDERS FOR LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PLANNING AND GUIDE THE METHANE MONITORING AND EMISSIONS COMMUNITY TO BETTER UNDERSTAND METHANE EMISSIONS FROM SOURCES AND REGIONS ACROSS THE NATION.
