WILLISTON BASIN RESOURCE STUDY FOR COMMERCIAL-SCALE SUBSURFACE HYDROGEN STORAGE THE PROJECT IS A LABORATORY AND DESK STUDY THAT WILL EXAMINE THE POTENTIAL FOR HIGH-VOLUME, SECURE SUBSURFACE HYDROGEN STORAGE IN GEOLOGIC FORMATIONS IN THE NORTH DAKOTA PORTION OF THE WILLISTON BASIN. OBJECTIVES ARE TO EXAMINE SALINE, DEPLETED OIL AND GAS, AND SALT FORMATIONS FOR HYDROGEN STORAGE CAPACITY; EVALUATE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF HYDROGEN STORAGE ON FORMATION FLUIDS, RESERVOIR ROCKS, AND WELLBORE MATERIALS; AND ESTIMATE THE HYDROGEN STORAGE CAPACITY OF THE BASIN.
