UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, NEW COMPETITIVE AGREEMENT, UNDER FOA NUMBER DE-FOA-0002459 (OPEN 2021) WITH PROJECT TITLE “PRECIPITATION STRENGTHENED NI-BASED ALLOYS FOR LIQUID SALT CONTAINMENT AND TRANSPORT IN ENERGY SYSTEMS'' PROPOSES TO IDENTIFY A SMALL SUBSET OF ALLOYS, FABRICATE LARGER SIZED HEATS, MEASURE SALT RESISTANCE IN CAPSULES, EVALUATE CREEP AND IRRADIATION RESISTANCE TO ENABLE ALLOY COMPOSITION MODIFICATIONS AND DOWN-SELECT THE BEST ALLOY CAPABLE OF MEETING THE DESIGNERS’ PROPERTY REQUIREMENTS. CONTINGENT ON MARKET AND BUSINESS CONDITIONS AND BASED UPON AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COLLABORATING PARTIES, AN INDUSTRIAL SCALE HEAT OF APPROPRIATE SIZE OF THIS ALLOY WILL BE PRODUCED AND CORROSION RESISTANCE IN A FLOWING SALT, HIGH TEMPERATURE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, AND IRRADIATION RESISTANCE WILL BE EVALUATED TO ENABLE COMMERCIALIZATION. MANUFACTURING PROCESSES WILL BE DEVELOPED FOR VARIOUS PRODUCT FORMS REQUIRED FOR USE IN MOLTEN SALT REACTORS.
