THIS PROJECT WILL DELIVER A VALIDATED HIGH-FLOW CHILLER DESIGN READY FOR MANUFACTURE AND INSTALLATION IN A HEAVY-DUTY HYDROGEN FUELING STATION. THIS DESIGN WILL TARGET THE MOST COST-EFFECTIVE PRE-COOLING METHOD POSSIBLE WITH CONVENTIONAL EQUIPMENT. BUDGET PERIOD 1 TARGETS COMPLETING A PRELIMINARY CHILLER DESIGN CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING THE NECESSARY PRE-COOLING TO ENSURE A HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE IS FILLED, PER THE APPLICABLE PROTOCOLS AND STANDARDS, WITHIN THE DOE TARGET OF 6 MINUTES OR 10 KG/MIN AVERAGE FUELING RATE. BUDGET PERIOD 2 WILL COMPLETE A DETAILED DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A SUB-SCALE CHILLER FOR TESTING. BUDGET PERIOD 3 WILL VALIDATE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SUB-SCALE CHILLER WITH ACTUAL HYDROGEN FUELING TESTS. THE RESULTS OF THIS TESTING WILL BE USED TO FINALIZE THE FULL-SCALE DESIGN. BY THE END OF THIS PROJECT, THE TEAM TARGETS HAVING A COMMERCIALIZATION PLAN IN PLACE WITH A CHILLER MANUFACTURER WITH A TARGET DEPLOYMENT SITE FOR INSTALLATION OF THE FULL-SCALE UNIT.
