THIS PROJECT WILL DEVELOP A LOW-COST HELIOSTAT FOR HIGH-FLUX, SMALL AREA, POINT-FOCUSED RECEIVERS WITH A DESIGN THERMAL RATING BETWEEN 100 KWT AND 1 MWT. THE RECEIVER SIZE REQUIRED FOR THIS THERMAL RATING IS SMALLER THAN THE IMAGE SIZE OF CONVENTIONAL HELIOSTATS, WHICH MAKES SPILLAGE LOSSES UNTENABLE. SOLAR PARABOLIC DISH TECHNOLOGIES ARE WELL SUITED TO THIS THERMAL RATING BUT DO NOT INTEGRATE WELL WITH THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE (TES) BECAUSE THE RECEIVER IS CANTILEVERED ABOVE THE DISH AND MOVES AS THE DISH TRACKS THE SUN.
