THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO PROVE THE CONCEPT OF A NOVEL HOT-SWAPPABLE, FAULT-TOLERANT, MODULAR POWER CONVERTER (HSFT-MPC) SYSTEM FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) PLANTS. THE OBJECTIVE WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A 25KW, SINGLE-PHASE, HSFT-MPC PROTOTYPE. COMPARED WITH THE EXISTING SOLAR INVERTERS IN THE MARKET, THE HSFT-MPC IS EXPECTED TO REDUCE THE INVERTER FAILURE-CAUSED DOWNTIME AND ENERGY LOSSES OF SOLAR PV PLANTS BY 60% AND 50%, RESPECTIVELY.
