THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO ADVANCE THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL DISCRETE DISLOCATION DYNAMICS (DDD) SIMULATION METHOD TO INCLUDE ELASTIC STRESS WAVE EMISSION AND ADVANCED MODELS FOR DISLOCATION NUCLEATION AND HIGH VELOCITY INTERACTIONS. WITH THESE ADVANCEMENTS, AN UNDERSTANDING OF ELASTODYNAMIC EFFECTS ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE DISLOCATION MICROSTRUCTURE DURING SHOCK LOADING WILL BE ATTAINED.
