UNIVERSAL AND FAST CONTROL OF HYBRID SPIN-BOSON SYSTEMS-THE OVERALL PROPOSED APPROACH IS TO EXPLORE COMBINATIONS OF COHERENT OPERATIONS ON TRAPPED-ION QUBITS, SPIN AND MOTIONAL, THAT ALLOW FASTER GATE OPERATIONS THAN THOSE THAT MAY BE LIMITED BY MOTIONAL INTERACTIONS ALONE. THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH IS TO EXPLORE METHODS AND BENCHMARK A UNIVERSAL SET OF HYBRID SPIN-BOSON INTERACTIONS THAT ENABLE FAST GATE OPERATIONS THAT BREAK THE CONVENTIONAL MOTIONAL SPEED LIMIT. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES ARE TO EXPLORE HIGHER ORDER BOSONIC INTERACTIONS AND USE THESE INTERACTIONS TO CREATE A GATE SET THAT ENABLES FAST AND VERSATILE ENTANGLEMENT BETWEEN DIFFERENT SPIN AND BOSONIC MODALITIES.
