CONDUCT THERMAL MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION FOR HIGH-TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS USING A CUSTOM FREQUENCY DOMAIN THERMO-REFLECTANCE SYSTEM. THERMAL MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION FOR EXTREME ENVIRONMENT APPLICATIONS HAS FAR-REACHING IMPLICATIONS BEYOND THE ARMY, WITH NASA UTILIZING SIMILAR TECHNIQUES TO DEVELOP HEAT SHIELDS FOR SPACECRAFT AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) APPLYING THEM TO IMPROVE THE THERMAL MANAGEMENT OF AIRCRAFT ENGINES. ADDITIONALLY, CIVILIAN APPLICATIONS OF THERMAL MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION CAN BE SEEN IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED FIRE-RESISTANT MATERIALS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND TRANSPORTATION, AS WELL AS IN THE CREATION OF MORE EFFICIENT THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY APPLICATIONS, SUCH AS CONCENTRATING SOLAR POWER PLANTS.
