PABLO LINARES-SERRANO. THE PROJECT IS FOCUSED ON DESIGNING NEUROMORPHIC CHIP COMPONENTS AND DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE SENSOR INTEGRATION STRATEGIES FOR EVENT-BASED SENSING PLATFORMS. THIS PROJECT WILL EXPLORE THE DESIGN OF FULLY RECONFIGURABLE SENSORY SPIKING NEURONS THAT DIRECTLY INTERFACE WITH SENSORY PIXELS. THESE NEURONS WILL REPRESENT SPECIFIC EVENT DETECTIONS AS SPIKES WITH DISTINCT PATTERNS. MR. LINARES WILL EVALUATE VARIOUS DESIGN STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING THESE EVENT-BASED COMPONENTS, ASSESS THEIR TRADE-OFFS, AND DETERMINE THE APPLICATION SPACES WHERE THEY ARE MOST EFFECTIVE. ADDITIONALLY, HE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING, SIMULATING, AND TESTING COMPLETE CHIP DEVELOPMENTS FOR THESE EVENT-BASED ENCODERS, ALONG WITH THEIR PERIPHERAL COMPONENTS, IN ORDER TO BENCHMARK THE CHIP-LEVEL PERFORMANCE OF THESE DESIGNS.
