Abstract
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) is an honorary award. The National Science Foundation (NSF) administers the award program on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). The awards are bestowed for excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including biomedical, mentoring accomplishments. Award recipients receive a citation signed by the President of the United States, a paid trip for two to the nation's capital to attend a recognition ceremony, and a $10,000 honorary award. The White House announced eight awardees from the 2012 competition on March 27, 2015. Among the awardees seven are individuals and one is an organization representing the following states: California, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas.
