Abstract

This award provides funding to help cover the travel expenses of participants to the "2014 Red Raider Mini-Symposium" to be held November 6-9, 2014, at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The symposium will feature five plenary talks on the topics of gravitational lensing, circle packing, hyperbolic metrics, and other topics in Geometric Function Theory and Mathematical Physics. There will be special talks of general interest from Professor M. Dorff on "Movies and Mathematics" and Professor C. Beneteau on "Women in Mathematics". Further, there will be a special reception during which undergraduate and graduate students may meet and discuss mathematics with the plenary speakers. Opportunities will be made available for eary career mathematicians to present and discuss their work to participants at this conference.
