Abstract
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is hosting a symposium to commemorate the MIT Project MAC, which began in 1963 under the title of the Project on Mathematics and Computation, and the research it inspired and continues to inspire. The symposium includes a retrospective on Project MAC and discussion of the future of computing. The symposium features presentations by and discussions with some of the most important figures in computing, academia, business and technology, Rodney Brooks, Tom Leighton, Scott Aaronson, Cynthia Dwork, Antonio Torralba, and Tom Knight. The symposium will cover wide range of subjects including robotics, Big Data, quantum computing, privacy, image analysis, social networks, bio-statistics, and computational biology. The event takes place at the 28-20 May 2014 at MIT.
