Abstract

This award provides support for a student from an underrepresented group which will allow him to complete his Ph.D. research at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, and present his dissertation. His research topic involves the search for high mass di-electron structures in ATLAS data. He will also analyze ATLAS simulated data, some collaboration-approved and some locally-generated with the Hampton Particle Physics Computing Facility, for signal and background estimation. This award promotes the teaching, training and participation in research for a student from an HBCU and strengthens the group at Hampton University.
