Abstract

The awardee is an accomplished science fiction writer who will conduct an annual summer activity called the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshops. These workshops teach writers about astronomy and science, and how to incorporate accurate science into their work. Principles of public education and STEM standards are instilled as well by an education specialist. These workshops contribute to scientific literacy through the books and articles that participants will write in the future.
