Abstract

This proposal seeks funds to support the third Gordon Conference in Plasmonics, and the newly established Gordon-Kenan Research Seminar preceding the Conference, to be both held at Colby College, ME, in June 2010. Intellectual merit: The conference will assemble the key leaders in the field to present recent advances in Plasmonics and will discuss future novel developments and applications. The goal of this meeting is to advance the leading edge of Plasmonics research by bringing together researchers from the multiple disciplines impacting the technology. Broader impact: The Gordon Research Conference attracts bright researchers and offers a dynamic platform conducive to interaction, into solving new interdisciplinary problems and identifying novel directions. In addition the new Gordon-Kenan Research Seminar preceding the Conference is a student-run forum gathering young investigators aimed at disseminating the advances in the field as well as fostering dialog and collaboration.
