Abstract

This award to the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat is for the hire of the icebreaker ODEN for breaking an ice channel to McMurdo Station, Antarctica. This activity is supported through a special agreement between the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat, the Swedish Research Council and the National Science Foundation for "Cooperative Research and Logistical Activities in Antarctica." This award of $1,730,000 provides the estimated first funding for the initial mobilization of the ODEN from Sweden to the McMurdo Station ice edge.
