Abstract

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) proposed a continuation of a program that has increased the capacity of the postsecondary education community to utilize national sample surveys and other NCES and NSF data sets, thereby improving the quality of information underlying decision-making in postsecondary education, and the quality of' those decisions. The proposed program has three major target areas and seven program components. For predoctoral education: dissertation support grants and a two-week national data policy seminar for graduate students. For improving SRS data through professional development outreach: a new program consisting of a series of web-based workshops ('webinars") presented in collaboration with the NSF Science Resources Statistics Division and participating AIR members. For fostering research on higher education in S&E and the continuing education of institutional research professionals, research grants to support research that utilizes the NCES and NSF data bases.
