National Science Foundation NSF Software Development for Cyberinfrastructure (SDCI) Program Office of Cyberinfrastructure Proposal Number: 0721867 Principal Investigator: Jose Fortes Institution: University of Florida Proposal Title: SDCI New: Middleware for Missing Links in Virtualized Grids Abstract This project will support virtual organizations and their use of grids by developing and integrating virtual workspaces and networks combined with management, monitoring, and testing capabilities. By developing these missing links, configuration management tools, resource management tools, and management tools for virtual namespaces and networks the work promises to integrate virtualization management capabilities into existing grids. Intellectual merit includes the creation of these missing links in middleware, and will contribute real extensions to existing grid services. Broader impact includes the potential for the work to lead to a new resource provisioning model in grids, and more directly impact TeraGrid, OSG, and other existing grids.
