Abstract
With this award, the Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry Program supports the work of Professor Li Pu from the University of Virginia. This research is focused on the development of catalytic systems for the enantioselective addition of enolates to aldehydes to prepare synthetically useful intermediates for total syntheses of compounds with possible medical applications. Broader Impacts: The Broader Impacts of this research is considered to be excellent, especially due to the outreach to high school students. The synthetic methods being developed by the pI will also be useful in the synthesis of medicinally useful compounds.
