Abstract
ABSTRACT ARC 0725005 "Many Strong Voices: Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation in the Arctic and Small Island Developing States." This project, PI John Crump, UN Foundation, will support the travel and participation of Arctic indigenous community members to the organizing conference for the Many Strong Voices program organized by UNEP/GRID-Arendal. The conference will be held in Belize, May 28-30, 2007 and will support a consortium of researchers, policy-makers, NGOs, stakeholders and local community members to set out an agenda to develop a research and education program that will assess, inform, research, and ultimately mitigate the vulnerability of Arctic and small island states, highly vulnerable regions of the world to rapid global climate change. The project will facilitate and magnify the voice of Arctic indigenous people in the dialog and policy development surrounding global climate change issues.
