Investigators
Abstract
An award has been made to SUNY College at Oswego under the direction of Dr. James A. MacKenzie for the acquisition of an ultracentrifuge for research and education. The instrument will benefit several research projects underway at the college, including work on protein purification, isolation and purification of organelles of cells, and interactions between molecules within cells. The instrument will facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations between the Biology and Chemistry Departments in several facilities established recently. The college conducts several programs aimed at underrepresented students, including a McNair Program that offers research opportunities to minority students interested in science careers. The new instrument will enhance the research experiences of a large number of students working with college faculty.
