Abstract
EXP-LA: EXP-LA: IMPACT (Imprinted Polymer Array for Counterterrorism) Howard Katz Johns Hopkins University (0730926) Bruce Hamilton, Program Director (703) 292-7066 This is a project to develop devices to detect airborne explosive components using organic semiconductors. A novel aspect of the proposal is the use of multiple components and star polymers to create molecular imprints for sensing. These molecularly imprinted polymeric materials will utilize shape, size, and possibly electronic structure for improved selectivity. The educational outreach of the project includes incorporation of organic sensors into low-voltage device fabrication kits for community college and high school students.
