Abstract
TITLE: EXP-SA: Receptor-Based Sensing of Explosives With Three-Dimensionally Ordered Macroporous Carbon Electrode Arrays PI name: Philippe Buhlmann Institution: University of Minnesota - Twin Cities Proposal Number: 0730437 This project will develop highly selective voltammetric/amperometric sensors. The sensor electrode will be prepared by coating porous carbon electrode with molecularly designed receptors. This research involves a wide range of sub-disciplines including electro-analytic chemistry, molecular recognition and nanotechnology fabrication. The research is highly creative, especially as it relates to using molecular recognition to enhance ion sensitivity and specificity of electrodes. An educational program is planned that includes sponsoring of events at local libraries and outreach activities to tribal schools.
