Abstract
0736182 Reano This radiation sensor research employs the concept of measuring changes in refractive index at the critical angle which should be very sensitive to the dielectric properties of the material. It incorporates all the relevant detection principles and includes high sensitivity, good energy resolution, and operation at room temperature. In addition, this sensor can be used at large standoff distances. The PIs have evaluated the existing detector technology including salient characteristics that are necessary for the next generation of radiation detectors, and determined how their concept can improve the state-of-the art in radiation detectors.
