Abstract

0711550 Coale This award to San Jose State University in California provides support for the acquisition of oceanographic instrumentation to be used on R/V Point Sur operated by the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. Specifically, support is recommended to acquire a shipboard satellite communication system, including gyro-stabilized 1-meter tracking antenna, to allow Ku-band Internet communication in coordination with the HiSeasNet system on UNOLS research vessels. The award also includes funds to acquire three fluorometers for use in the underway data acquisition system and lowered on vehicles or conductivity-depth-temperature (CTD) instruments. These shared-use instrument acquisitions improve the capabilities of the research vessel, and are expected to be used by most researchers using R/V Point Sur in their research during 2007 and future years. ***
