Abstract
This Small Business Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I research project aims to develop a thermallyactuated microfluidics platform, including Peltier-actuated microvalves. This will be achieved by controlling fluids entirely contained in a module separated from the actuation elements by provider phase changeable barriers. The availability of an inexpensive, self-contained and portable microfluidic device that contains all the reagents and functions needed for applications such as molecular diagnostics and proteomics will be of significant value to physicians and scientists.
