Abstract

The PIs will work on developing theories of extended objects, Supersymmetry and Supergravity. One area of research will focus on generalizations of Supermembrane Theory. Another area of research will be on Supersymmetric Gauged Scale Covariance. A third area is a novel mechanism for having zero cosmological constant without fine-tuning. The PIs will also investigate non-Abelian generalizations of brane effective actions The project will involve students coming from an ethnically diverse student body. It is hoped that the students trained by the PIs will become either the scientists and Engineers of tomorrow, or become teachers of Physics and Mathematics.
