Abstract
EAR-0725998 Walker This award will support a two-day workshop to progress toward a "National Geoinformatics System". The need for a national system is pressing - future progress in the earth sciences hinges on the availability and dissemination of high-quality data. In addition, tools to analyze large datasets and to cross the boundaries between disparate data types are critical. The goal is to create both a vision for a National system as well as providing a clear path and plans for implementing such a system. Representatives from universities, public, and private sector groups will all participate in this workshop to be held at the Denver Federal Center and co-funded by the U.S. Geological Survey.
