Abstract

Proposal ID 0653226 ?Date December 6, 2006 ?The proposal requests partial support for young physicists (graduate students and recent Ph.D.) to attend a summer school on ?Lattice QCD and its applications? to be held at the Institute for Nuclear Theory at the University of Washington Aug. 8-28 2007. The school will provide a comprehensive introduction to the methods and applications of lattice QCD. The INT will provide administrative support and the expenses of the lecturers, organizers and some students. This proposal is to provide support for roughly 10 additional students. The broader impacts are that the school presents an excellent opportunity for young students and physicists to be brought up to speed on the latest theoretical and numerical issues in Lattice Gauge Theory. A special effort will be made to attract women and minority students. There will also be evening talks by students that will enable students to get practice in making presentations to their peers.
