Abstract

This project supports a session on "Inuit Traditional Knowledge of the Narwhal" at the 15th International Inuit Studies Conference. The PI, Martin Nweeia is accompanied by two of his Inuit colleagues who will discuss the integration of traditional and scientific knowledge through their collaborative research on the structure and function of the Narwhal tusk. Participation in this conference increases the collaboration between researchers and Arctic communities, something supported by the federal interagency "Principles for the Conduct of Research in the Arctic," as well as the participation of the Inuit in science.
