Abstract
This award provides support to conduct two, back-to-back proposal writing workshops aimed at young faculty in the EPSCoR state of Hawaii, and with special emphasis on the CAREER proposal. The workshops will be one full day in duration, and will include a briefing by the National Science Foundation on good proposal writing practices, followed by testimonies from previous awardees and a mock proposal review. The workshop will be hosted by the University of Hawaii. It is expected that there will be 60 or more attendees at each workshop, and a special emphasis will be given also to women, minorities and disabled persons. The workshop will help get young faculty from EPSCoR states a start in their careers. It will enhance their ability to compete for Federal grant money by writing better proposals.
