Abstract
This award supports a Workshop on New Particle Formation in the Atmosphere. The workshop will take place September 8-9, 2006 in the Minneapolis, MN area, and will take advantage of the expertise of the scientists that will already be in St. Paul for the International Aerosol Conference, scheduled for September 10-16. The workshop will include lectures and a poster session, and will focus on new particles formed by atmospheric photochemical processes. This is the second meeting in the series. The goal of the workshop will be to enhance knowledge of the relationship between new particle formation and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). If new particle formation is found to affect CCN concentrations, this will become an important variable in climate modeling. Around 50 attendees will be invited to attend the workshop.
