Off-line Detector Monitoring and Calibration of the LHCb Experiment
Syracuse University, Syracuse NY
Investigators
Abstract
The Syracuse group participates in the LHCb experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The research program will make precision measurements of rare decays and charge-parity violation in both Bd and Bs meson decays. The group will begin the development of an on-line computer farm that will provide essential feed-back for monitoring and calibrating the detector, especially the trigger. The Broader Impacts of this proposal are several. The development of the on-line system will serve as model for interactive quasi real time computing valuable for other areas such as medical research. And interest in basic sciences will be promoted through displays from on-line the farm that will be made available to High School teachers and students via the world-wide-web.
