Review Analysis Program: NSF 04-588 CISE Computing Research Infrastructure Title: CRI--SGER: Benchmark Suite for Embedded and Reconfigurable Computing Research Proposal: CNS 0640880 PI: Compton, Katherine Institution: University of Wisconsin-Madison Researchers at the University of Wisconsin will develop specifications for a benchmark suite for embedded and reconfigurable computing. These research areas are important to future computer systems such as mobile information appliances, medical devices, environmental sensing and monitoring, and defense monitoring and response systems. Current benchmarks are often too small to be realistic for modern systems, outdated, and limited in the types of research that can use them. The PI's will work with researchers, industry, and other sectors to develop specifications for a suite of benchmarks that can provide strong support for research and education in the future.
