0639065 Rivera This award will support two concurrent workshops to be organized by Dr. Wilson Rivera of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, and Dr. Alejandro Jofre at the University of Chile. One workshop will be on the topic of emerging computing trends - utility computing and digital publishing, focusing on emerging research enabling service-centric computing and end-to-end media rich infrastructures. The other workshop will be on women in the information society - ensuring their full participation in Latin America. These activities will help in the design of a plan of action to establish collaborations between the two groups. These activities will provide a forum for those in the field, from experts to the newest members of the community, to explore emerging research in the field of imaging and printing technologies and the second workshop will specifically focus on how to improve women's access to and use of information and communication technologies in Latin America.
