Abstract
This SGER provides support for the postdoctoral research activities of an associate of the PI to conduct several experiments designed to explore the potential for the use of x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) in the study of protein misfolding and aggregation. The team will pursue two directions, an analysis of crystalline versus non-crystalline proteins and alpha-helical versus beta-pleated conformations in dissimilar proteins.
